Joy L. Martin is an American writer based in Norwich, UK. She has just completed her first novel, Stars Light the Dark, with the support of a grant from Arts Council England and under the mentorship of award-winning British poet, novelist and academic Ros Barber. Her short fiction has been published in US literary journal MoonPark Review. She also writes creative non-fiction responses to performance for Exeunt Magazine(London), theatre reviews for The Stage (London) and feature essays for American Theatre (New York). She has a BS with a double-major in English and Music Performance from Central Michigan University, a BA in English from the University of Cambridge and a MRes in the Humanities and Cultural Studies from The London Consortium, where her research explored links between the creative imagination and mindfulness in the works of Jane Austen. She has spent years working in various roles in publishing and the arts, along the way working for an arts and wellbeing charity, a literary agency and Arts Council England.
